Biography
Alvin King was born in Leoti, County, Kansas . In 1915, he graduated from Tulane University with a bachelor’s degree [1] . In 1924, King was elected senator of Louisiana, in 1928 - re-elected, and from 1930 to 1931 he was president of the Senate [1] . When Huey Long resigned as governor to become US Senator, King ended his term in office. Alvin King became governor as a result of political disagreements between Huey Long and [2] He held the post from January 25 to May 16, 1932 [1] [3] .
After resigning as governor, King returned to legal practice. Shortly before his death, he became president of the Louisiana Bar Association. King was married to Willie Lee Vorris, they had two children [3] . King died on January 21, 1958, and was buried in the Graceland Cemetery in Lake Charles, Louisiana. [1]
