Short Biography
Caruyn Howell Jones was born March 21, 1967 in Swansea , Wales in a family of native Welsh. He received his secondary education at the Britega school in Bridgend. Then he studied at the University of Wales in Aberystwyth , where in 1988 he defended his bachelor's degree in law. While studying at the university, he joined the Welsh Labor Party . He continued his education at the Higher Law School in London .
Upon completion of his education, he was admitted to the Grace Inn Bar Association in 1989 , then worked for ten years in the Swansea Court of Justice, specializing in family, criminal and administrative matters. He left legal practice, becoming a professor of law at Cardiff University .
Married to Lisa Jones, from whom she has two children - Serenus and Rueri. He does sports ( rugby , golf and cycling ). Provides support to the Kenfighhill Male Choir.
Political Activities
He served as an adviser in Bridgend County for five years, after which he headed the local Labor cell.
In 1999, he was elected to the National Assembly for Wales from Bridgend County .
He was appointed deputy secretary of the National Assembly for Wales in March 2000 . In July of the same year, he was appointed Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development in the Government of Wales; in October 2000, the position was renamed Minister of Agriculture. His duties as Minister included environmental and rural issues, urban and rural planning, sustainable agriculture and rural development. In June 2002, he was also appointed Minister of the Open Government. During this time, he was responsible for preventing the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Wales in 2001 .
After the 2007 election , he was appointed Minister of Education , Culture and Welsh . His responsibilities included issues related to education, national culture and sports. Following the creation of the Welsh Labor coalition with the Party of Wales , Caruyn Jones was appointed Welsh General Counselor and Chairman of the House.
On December 1, 2009, Caruyn Jones was elected leader of the Welsh Labor Party, collecting more than 50% of the vote and beating his opponents Edwin Hart and Hugh Lewis.
On December 9, 2009, he was elected First Minister of Wales . Following the defeat of the Laborites in the 2010 British Parliament , and the resignation of Gordon Brown from the post of Prime Minister , Caruyn Jones became the oldest Labor in the UK government. He was appointed Privy Councilor on June 9, 2010 .
After the 2011 elections to the National Assembly for Wales, Caruyn Jones abandoned a coalition with the Party of Wales. He formed the Labor Government of the minority.
