Epighea ( Latin: Epigaea ) is a genus of plants of the Heather family [2] [3] [4] .

Botanical Description
Small evergreen shrubs are typically 10 to 20 cm tall. The leaves are evergreen, regular and simple.
The flowers are small, white or pink with a tubular rim.
The fruit is a dry capsule with numerous small seeds .
Range
Species of the genus Epighea are found in the USA in the states of Florida , Georgia , Iowa , Illinois , Indiana , Kentucky , Massachusetts , Maryland , Maine , Michigan , Minnesota , Mississippi , North Carolina , New Hampshire , New Jersey , New York , Ohio , Pennsylvania. , Rhode Island , South Carolina , Wisconsin , West Virginia [4] .
Economic Significance and Application
All three species of the genus are grown as ornamental plants in rockeries . They need moist, acidic soil. Epigaea × intertexta , a hybrid between the Asian epighea ( Epigaea asiatica ) and the creeping epighea ( Epigaea repens ), is also grown.
