Freddie Evans was born in the capital of Wales, Cardiff.
The first major international success for Evans was gold at the 2011 European Championships in Ankara in the under 69 kg category.
At the Olympics in London, he reached the final in the weight category up to 69 kg , having won in the semifinals against Ukrainian boxer Taras Shelestyuk . However, in the final, he lost to Serik Sapiev of Kazakhstan with a score of 17: 9.
