For the first time attracted the attention of specialists in 2002 , setting four junior records of its state of West Bengal . In 2003 she made her debut at the international level, taking part in the junior world championships in athletics in Quebec, where she reached the semifinals in the women's 800 meters . In 2004 , already in the adult age category, Pramanik took part in the first Asian Athletics Indoor Championships in Tehran, winning bronze medals at 800 meters and 400 meters . A year later, at the next championship draw held in Pattaya, Pramanik, as part of the Indian national team, won the gold medal in the 4 × 400 meter relay , repeating this success in 2006 at the Asian Games ; Also in 2006, at the Commonwealth Games, the Indian national team with the participation of Pramanic won silver medals in this discipline. On account of Pramanik also three gold awards of the South Asian Games 2006: in the relay, running at 400 and 800 meters. However, since 2007 , as a result of a series of injuries and accidents, Pramanik’s competitive successes have not risen above the regional level.

In 2012 , Pramanik was in the focus of media attention in connection with the accusation of rape against her, and the complainant claimed that Pramanic was actually a man who cohabited with her and promised to marry, and then changed her mind ^[1] . Pramanik spent 25 days in custody and was released on bail. ^[2] The primary unconvincing opinion of the Calcutta Presidency General Hospital has established that Pramanic is a man. However, upon further genetic examination, it was found that genetically and anatomically Pramanic is an intersex . According to experts, her physiology does not allow her to carry out sexual penetration ^[3] . Pramanik herself rejected all the accusations, stating that the woman who accused her was not her mistress, but only helped her about the housework, and explained the masculinization of her body with injections of testosterone , which were made to her during her sports career ^[4] .
