Abdi Ipekci Street ( Tour. Abdi İpekçi Caddesi ) is the main shopping street located in Sisli , Istanbul . The length of the street is 700 meters.

Over the past decade, a street in a prestigious area has become a retail outlet. Monthly rent here is $ 3500 per m². Currently it is the most expensive street for retail stores in Turkey [1] . There are many exclusive and expensive shops offering Turkish and international designer brands , international restaurants and cafes lined up on both sides of the street.
The street is named after Abdi Ipekci , a famous journalist and editor of the main Turkish newspaper Milliyet . Ipekchi was killed on February 1, 1979 in his car near his apartment on this street by Mehmet Ali Agjoy , who later became famous for his unsuccessful attempt on the life of Pope John Paul II . In 2000, a monument was erected at the site of the death of Abdi Ipekchi [2] .

New Year Celebration
On New Year's Eve, the street is decorated, it becomes the main crowded place of Istanbul, despite the fact that previously this place was Taksim Square [3] .
