Sophia Kovalevskaya Street is a street in the residential area “ Vtuzgorodok ” of the Kirovsky administrative district of Yekaterinburg . It was named after Sofia Vasilyevna Kovalevskaya (1850-1891), an outstanding mathematician, writer and journalist, the first woman professor in the world and a corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences. Location and landscaping
The street runs from south to north between the streets of Mira (to the west) and Komsomolskaya (to the east). It starts from a T-shaped intersection with Malyshev Street and ends with a T-shaped intersection at Akademicheskaya Street [1] [2] . Intersects with the street Pervomayskaya . On the even side there is a Lobachevsky lane adjacent to the street, on the odd side there are no adjoining streets. The length of the street is about 1200 meters. The width of the roadway is about 7-8 m (one lane in each direction of movement).
There are two traffic lights throughout the street (at the intersections with Pervomaiskaya and Malyshev streets), there are no unregulated pedestrian crossings . On both sides of the street is equipped with sidewalks and street lighting . The numbering of houses starts from the street Malysheva.
History
The street was first shown as planned on the Sverdlovsk plan in 1932, it had no name. On the plan of Sverdlovsk in 1947, it bears the name “ul. Molotov. The urban plans of 1939 and 1942, as well as the plan of 1947, show administrative buildings on the site of a modern complex of buildings of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Akademicheskaya-Komsomolskaya-Sofya Kovalevskaya quarter).
