History

The One Frame Festival was founded and was first held in 2003 . The initiator of the contest was the filmmaker Gagik Ghazare and the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art. Only 13 authors took part in the first festival, and in the following years the number of participants increased significantly [1] . According to the terms of the competition? The festival includes one-minute films, which were shot "one inclusion." At the same time, there is no age, sex, or nationality for the participants, and there are no restrictions for the film. In addition, the festival program also has a separate program of short (up to 30 minutes) films, as well as a competition “Cinema Without Borders” [2] . Films of both professional directors and amateurs, including those shot on a mobile phone camera, can take part in the festival. According to the organizers, the main goal of the festival is to open up interesting authors to the world and make their work accessible to a wide range of spectators [1] .

In 2010, at the VIII Film Festival "One Frame", 250 films were shown with minute timekeeping. Directors from 27 countries presented their work. In 2011 , at the IXth film festival, 337 authors from 45 countries took part, about 400 one-minute and short films were presented [1] . As part of the "One Frame" screening of films participating in international festivals of independent and low-budget cinema. The audience of the festival was presented with a special program, which included films provided by the National Cinema Center of Armenia, the Higher Film School “ Golden Apricot ” and the European Cultural Foundation [3] .

Opinion about the festival

  • Film critic Zaven Boyajyan [1] :
“One frame one minute” is a great opportunity for self-realization of young directors
  • Director Gayane Yeghiazaryan [4] :
The festival gives a very good opportunity for beginners to show their pictures, take their first steps. I prefer short films. If I can say everything in one minute, why waste precious time in vain
