Kolnik ( Latin Phyteúma or Phytéuma ) is a genus of dicotyledonous flowering plants included in the Campanulaceae family.

Title
The scientific name of the genus - Phyteuma - comes from other Greek. φύτευμα , the name used in the Vienna Dioscorides and in Pliny to refer to Reseda phyteuma . Karl Linney , who first used this name, in 1751 indicated that φύτευμα comes from φυτεύω - “plant”.
Botanical Description
Kolniki are rather large rhizome perennial herbaceous plants with an upright stalk . Leaves of various shapes, with a solid or serrated edge.
The flowers are small, collected in capitate or racemose inflorescences at the ends of shoots. The corolla is usually white or blue, actinomorphic, with a curved tube, divided almost to the very base into five narrow petals. Stamens are free. Pistils in the amount of two to three. Ovary with 2-3 shares.
The fruit is an oblong capsule with numerous, usually shiny seeds .
Range
Species of the genus Kolnik in the wild are common in temperate regions of Europe and Asia . The greatest variety of species is available in Central Europe .
