Biography

Nikolai Glushkov was born on December 26, 1920 in the village of Bobyli [K 1] in a peasant family. He graduated from ten classes. In 1939, Glushkov was called up for service in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army . In 1941, he graduated from the Chelyabinsk military aviation school of shooter-scorers . Since June of that year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. He was the navigator of the TB-3 aircraft, then the Li-2 aircraft. He participated in the battles near Kiev , the battle for Moscow , the supply of the Crimean partisans , the Battle of Stalingrad [3] .

By July 1943, Guard Lieutenant Nikolai Glushkov was the navigator of the TB-3 airship of the 4th Guards Air Regiment of the 62nd Air Division of the 6th Long-Range Air Corps . By that time, he had made 225 sorties on the bombing of military-industrial centers in the rear of the enemy, causing him significant damage [3] .

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of September 18, 1943, for “exemplary execution of the combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown” of the guard, Lieutenant Nikolai Glushkov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal Star ” under the number 1750 [3] .

In total, during the war years, Glushkov made 312 sorties. After the war, he continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1963, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, he was transferred to the reserve. He lived in Vinnitsa , before retiring, he worked as deputy chairman of the joint committee of the aviation workers union. He died on January 22, 1992, was buried in the Central cemetery of Vinnitsa [3] .
