Igor Rusakov and Ilya Klimkin
Rusakov trained Klimkin from 1991 until the end of his life (2003).
Under the leadership of Rusakov, Ilya won the World Championship among juniors, was the winner of the Russian Championships losing to Plushenko and Abtu, repeatedly won at the stages of the world Grand Prix, took 2nd place in the Grand Prix finals, again losing only to Plushenko, was fourth at the European Championships and ninth at the World Championships. Not long before his death, I. Rusakov transferred I. Klimkin to another well-known coach Viktor Kudryavtsev . Kudryavtsev did not change the program set by Rusakov, with whom Klimkin took third place in the European Championship in the 2003/2004 season.
Rusakov was not just a coach for Ilya Klimkin, he was part of his family, especially after the death of Ilya's father in 1999.
Others about him
Tatyana Tarasova, (trainer)
“Igor was a creatively gifted person. He had his own tricks and approaches in mastering technology, he made unforgettable programs! ”
Yulia Lebedeva, (trainer, student of Igor Rusakov)
“Since 1999, I have been working as a coach according to his methodology. Rusakov taught that the main thing in our business is to love your athlete. To treat children not only as working material, but also as little people who have their own destinies. ”
Tatyana Rusakova (Igor Rusakova's sister)
“He worked with the guys obsessively, with love. Ilya Klimkin, Julia Lebedeva, Maxim Shipov, Tatyana Plyushcheva, Tatyana Rachkova - all were talented and promising, could claim medals. Igor taught them everything that he knew what he had come to. He lived only with creativity.
Igor's life was subordinated to the main thing - figure skating.
He was an independent and unpretentious person. In life, he was guided by the principle of "albeit small, but the best." No halftones! If the program is set, you need not to sleep at night, but to do everything to the maximum and perfectly. Igor was open, hospitable, non-greedy. I bought a refrigerator on the ice rink, said to everyone: “Come, use it.” He never envied anyone, did no harm, lived easily. There was no authoritarianism in him, he was soft, could open, loved humor. But at the same time he was thorough, accurate. Always washed, shaven, tastefully dressed. He loved and knew how to cook.
Igor read good books, went to the theater, was interested in ballet. ”
Ilya Klimkin (student of Igor Rusakov)
“Igor was never tough with his students, but rather demanding.
When dad died, Igor replaced my father. “We got close to him - spent time together, he supported me greatly.”
“Everything that I learned from Igor, I now pass on to my students.”
Irina Kolganova (choreographer, colleague Igor Rusakova)
“He was always on ice skating - showing what he had invented. Then he asked me if this could be done and whether it would look harmonious. He was a talented director. He loved modern ballet with broken plastic, possessed avant-garde thinking. And he was one step ahead in everything. ”
Vladimir Barats (Figure Skating Trainer)
“Together with Igor, we studied in the same group at the SCOLIFK. He always amazed me with his great desire to learn more, find new things, try something else. Later, after graduation, we, with my students, came to him for training and each of our visits Igor impressed me with his new finds, and how his students easily fulfilled his plan.
After his death, we with our students and their parents decided to create a club named after Igor Rusakov in order to preserve the memory of this wonderful person, athlete and coach. ”
