Physical Properties
Platinum (II) iodide forms black crystals of several modifications:
- α-PtI 2 , cubic syngony , cell parameters a = 1.109 nm, Z = 12;
- β-PtI 2 , monoclinic syngony , space group P 2 1 / c , cell parameters a = 0.663 nm, b = 0.874 nm, c = 0.690 nm, β = 102.6 °.
Not soluble in water, ethanol , acetone , ether , dissolved in ethylamine and hydrogen iodide .
