Princess Olga Isabella of Savoy-d'Aosta, Duchess of Apulia ( née Princess Olga Isabella of Greece ) ( Greek Πριγκίπισσα Όλγα της Ελλάδας ; born November 17, 1971) is the daughter of Prince of Greece and Darius Kariela Marieloela and Mario Elélio Carloela and Darius Carmel Married to Prince Aymon of Savoy-Aosta .

Childhood and Youth
Olga grew up in Paris and New York , spending the summer in a family villa, on the island of Patmos , Greece [1] . She chose to study a private boarding school in England, studied history in Rome, is also a graduate of Princeton University [2] . Olga has a degree from Columbia University Higher School of Architecture and Planning . After a short work as an interior designer , she went to Panama to photograph and study phalaena . Later, as a lepidopterist , she helped create and then worked at the Liquid Jungle Laboratory in Panama in collaboration with the Smithsonian Institute for Tropical Studies and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute . He is also a journalist and director.
Dynastic status
Unlike other members of the Greek royal family, Olga is not considered a full member of the royal house , despite the fact that King Constantine II is recognized as born in a marriage (in accordance with Greek legislative decree 1298/1949 ). As daughters of a non- dynastic marriage, she and her elder sister, Princess Alexandra, do not traditionally appear as royal highness , and do not bear the title suffix “and Denmark” [3] [4] [4] .
Engagement, marriage, and children
Engagement
Her engagement to Prince Aimon of Savoy-Aosta , the son of Amadeus of Savoy-Aosta , was announced in May 2005. Aimone and Olga are second cousins, both of whom are great-grandchildren of Jean Orleans .
Marriage
The civil ceremony took place after a three-year engagement, on September 16, 2008, at the Italian embassy in Moscow , the city in which Aymon worked. The wedding took place on September 27 on the island of Patmos [5] , where, as expected, the Patriarchal Exarch of Patmos, Archimandrite Andipas Nikitaras, served in the Evangelical Church of the Virgin Mary in Pano Kambos [6] . After the Second Vatican Council, marriages, in accordance with the rite of the Patriarchate of Constantinople , to which the exarchate belongs, can be recognized canonically valid [7] . Canonical permission was obtained from the Catholic Archbishop of Moscow , Paolo Pezzi , who was the ordinarium of Prince Aymone [8] .
On the wedding day, several members of Olga's family attended Patmos Island, including:
- Queen of Spain Sofia ( née Princess of Greece and Denmark),
- former king of Greece Constantine II
- and his wife Queen Anna Maria ( née Princess of Denmark),
- Prince of Greece and Danish Michael
- and his wife, Marina Grecheskaya (parents of the bride),
- Princess Irina Greek and Danish .
In addition to the 78-year-old Margarita, the Dowager Duchess of Austria-Este ( nee Princess of Savoy-d'Aosta), all members of the Aosta branch of the Savoy dynasty were present, namely:
- Prince Amadeus of Savoy-Aosta (father of the groom)
- and his wife Princess Sylvia, Duchess of Aosta ,
- Princess Claude of Orleans , aka “Princess of France”, mother of the groom), as well as two sisters of Aimone -
- Princess Bianca, Countess Arrivabene Valenti Gonzaga
- and Princess Mafalda, Madame Lombardo di San Chirico, as well
- Maria Christina ( née princess of Savoy d'Aosta)
- and her husband, Prince Casimir of Bourbon di Napoli .
From the oldest branch of the Italian royal family was
- Princess Maria Gabriella of Savoy (daughter of the late king Umberto II ) [9] , since she was at the wedding of Olga's parents in Athens in 1965 [10] .
Children
- March 7, 2009 in Paris, France, Princess Olga gave birth to a son named Umberto, Prince of Piedmont [11] [12]
- May 24, 2011 in Paris, Olga gave birth to another son named Amedeo. The day after his birth, Amedeo was granted the title of his paternal grandfather: Duke of Abruzzi [13]
- December 14, 2012 in Paris, Olga gave birth to a daughter, Isabella.
