Basic Information
The medal “In memory of the coronation of Emperor Nicholas II” is a commemorative medal of the Russian Empire for awarding persons related to the coronation of Nicholas II . It was established on May 26, 1896 by decree of [2] Emperor Nicholas II , communicated to the Senate [1] [3] [4] [5] .
Service Order
The right to wear a medal was granted to persons of both sexes, namely:
- To all persons who participated in the preparation and organization of the celebrations on the occasion of the coronation of Nicholas II and Alexandra Fedorovna ;
- To all representatives of the estates present at the coronation ;
- To all those who are on active duty, including the lower ranks, who were in Moscow during the coronation [1] [4] .
- To the workers of the St. Petersburg Mint who made medals: medalists , craftsmen, workers [3] [5] .
The awarded were given a certificate of the right to wear a medal [3] .
Medal Description
The medal is made of silver . Diameter 27 mm. On the front side of the coin depicts a bas-relief of the face of Nicholas II . Along the edge of the medal along the inscription rim: on the left - “ B.M. NIKOLAI II EMPEROR ”, on the right - “ AND SAMOderZHETS ALLOSOSS. ". The inscription in two lines is horizontally located on the reverse side of the coin: “ KORONOVAN V MOSCOW ”. Above the inscription is a large imperial crown . At the bottom of the reverse arc is the date: “ 14 MA 1896 ”. The main circulation was made at the St. Petersburg Mint [1] [6] . There are variants of the medal, which is due to the fact that it was allowed to manufacture the medal by private workshops. As a rule, they were also made of silver , but there are variants of the medal made of white metal. Medals made in private workshops may also vary in size: 28 mm variants are known. There may be some differences in the details of the image [1] .
Wear Order
The medal had an eyelet for attaching to a block or ribbon. The medal should be worn on the chest. The ribbon of the medal is Andreevskaya [3] [6] [7] .
