Okara ( Urdu ضلع اوکاڑہ , Eng. Okara District ) is one of 36 districts of the Pakistani province of Punjab . The administrative center is the city of Okara .

Geography
The area of the district is 4,377 km². In the north it borders with the districts of Nankana-Sahib and Kasur , in the north-west - with the district of Faisalabad , in the west - with the district of Sahival , in the south - with the districts of Pakpatan and Bahawalpur , in the east - with the territory of India .

The district is divided into three technical forces :
- Depalpur
- Okara
- Renala Hurd
and 114 union territories.
Population
According to the 1998 census , the district's population was 2,232,992 people, of which 52.28% were men, 47.72% were women. The literacy rate of the population (10 years and older) was 37.8%. The level of urbanization is 23.04%. The average population density is 510.2 people / km². Muslims predominate in the religious composition of the population.
