History
Project Work
Architects and engineers from Novosibgrazhdanproekt were engaged in the development of the highway project. In the 1950s, it was included in the “General Plan of Novosibirsk until 1980 . The project "Novosibgrazhdanproekt" " [3] . In most variants, the development project was worked out by specialists of Lengorproekt. According to this project, quarters of 15 hectares should have been built up with four- and five-storey houses - for public use and residential. The project was not based on a rational planning organization, but on a so-called. "Backbone" building, where the focus was on the outside of the architecture. In spite of the fact that specialists from Novosibgorproekt worked further on the development of the avenue, the basis remained the same [2] .
Mass building
At the end of 1953, the construction of the first building of the complex of educational buildings and hostels of the Electrotechnical Institute in the city began. By 1952, GIPROVUZ developed its design task. In April 1955, this is the first building of the complex (hostel), as well as the first building on the then nameless road to the Communal bridge being built, being put into operation [4] .
In 1958, on both sides of the avenue, the builders began the construction of enlarged residential quarters No. 5 and No. 6, each with an area of 16 hectares. The architects of the quarters are A. F. Yakusevich and R. M. Okuneva [2] . In 1966–1974, the building of the Novosibirsk Electrotechnical Institute was built by architects V.I. Krivogornitsin, A.A. Kondratiev and engineers B.Nesterov, N.Prokunin (No. 20; now the teaching and laboratory building of NSTU) [5]
Modern Russia
Until recently, a lot of different format advertising structures were placed on the avenue. In August 2012 , according to the decision of the municipality of the city, the boards were either moved or dismantled (at the expense of advertising agencies) [6] .
Perspectives
In the future, the authorities plan to remove the housing stock in the area from Vatutina Street to Cosmic Street. Due to this, the number of residents on the avenue will decrease by 25% [7] . Also in the future, city and regional authorities are planning to make the avenue pedestrian, moving the transport to the next Blücher street [8] .
Transportation
January 7, 1986 , together with the first section of the metro on the avenue appeared the first left-bank metro station - "Student" . And on July 26, 1991 - another one, " Marx Square ". Together with the launch of both stations that were built in an open way , sections of Karl Marx Avenue, which overlapped during their construction, were opened to traffic.
