Biography
Born in the village of Pyschug, Kostroma Region , March 30, 1950 . He graduated from the Moscow Military School of Civil Defense ( MVUGO ), the Frunze Military Academy and the General Staff Military Academy . Since 1967 he served as a cadet , platoon , company , battalion commander , and chief of staff of the regiment . Since 1982, he served in the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces as a senior officer - operator , deputy chief, chief of direction, deputy chief of department. In the mid-1990s, he became head of the staffing department of the Armed Forces of the Main Organizational-Mobilization Directorate (GOMU) of the General Staff, and deputy head of the GOMU. In 2002, he was appointed to the post of chief of the GOMU - deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, in 2009 he was discharged from the ranks of the Armed Forces to the reserve (had the rank of colonel general ), but remained in office as a civilian.
