Map and Territory ( French: La carte et le territoire ) is a novel by the French writer Michel Welbeck . Awarded the 2010 Honkurov Prize . [1] The first French edition came out with a large and loud circulation of 120,000 copies. [2]

In the center of the novel is the drama of the modern world, from which the human person is gradually superseded. In addition to the fictional character of the book - Jed Martin, Welbeck includes himself (as well as Frederick Begbeder ) in the story, bizarrely intertwining the fate of these heroes.

In a television interview given after the Goncourt Prize was awarded, Welbeck called the novel's main themes "the relationship between father and son, as well as the reflection of reality through art." [3]
