History
The history of Uman State Pedagogical University begins in August 1930. Then it was called the Institute of Social Education and included 4 faculties: technical and mathematical, socio-economic, literary, and biological. The training lasted three years. His first enrollment was 120 students. The teaching staff consisted of only 17 people. At the same time, a rabbi faculty was opened at the institute with full-time and evening classes.
In 1933, the first graduation of teachers took place - 97 people.
In 1933, the Institute for Social Education was reorganized into a pedagogical institute with a four-year term of study. The faculties have changed, but again four: historical, literary, mathematical, biological. In 1935, due to the acute need for pedagogical staff, the institute became a teacher and the term of study was reduced to 2 years at only 2 faculties - physical-mathematical and natural-geographical, as well as an evening department for the preparation of teachers of language and literature.
March 10, 1944 Uman was liberated and in June the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR issued a decree on the resumption of the institution.
On June 15, 1944, the institute resumed its work as part of 2 departments: physical-mathematical and natural-geographical.
In 1952, the Uman Teacher Training Institute was reorganized into the Uman State Pedagogical Institute. 1960 was the year of birth of the faculty of pedagogy and methodology of primary education.
In 1967, by decree of the Council of Ministers of the USSR of September 23, for the many years of creative work and in connection with perpetuating the memory of Pavel Tychyna, the institute was named after him.
Since 1976, the institute began training teachers of general technical disciplines and labor.
In September 1980, the institute celebrated its 50th anniversary. At that time, more than 2.5 thousand students studied at the institute.
In 1992, the pre-school faculty was founded, in 1994 - philological. In 1994, the Faculty of Economics was opened on a commercial basis.
In 1993, graduate school was opened in the following specialties: history of Ukraine; theory and history of pedagogy; Theory and History of Religions, Freethinking, and Atheism; philosophy of politics.
In the same period, the construction of a new building of the institute began.
In 1998, by a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of March 4, the institute was reorganized into the Uman State Pedagogical University named after Pavel Tychina.
In all specialties, training of masters was carried out, externship functioned, graduate school functioned. The contingent of students was 4392 people.
In 1998, the faculty of pre-university training was established.
In the 2010-2011 academic year a brass band began to function, which included students from all faculties, renewing the good tradition of the institution.
From 2011-2012 academic year the university began training foreign citizens.
From the 2011-2012 academic year, military training of reserve officers is carried out.
