History
On September 3 (16), 1907, Emperor Nicholas II approved the report of the Holy Governing Synod "on the establishment in the Kazan diocese of local funds of the department of the third vicar bishop, assigning him the name Mamadyshsky and providing him with the supervision of missionary courses in the city of Kazan , instead of Rector of the Theological Academy , why not continue to consider these courses at the Academy and make appropriate changes to their charter, and about being an observer of these missionary courses, Archimandrite Andrei, Bishop Mamadyshsky, so that his name and dedication were made in the city of Kazan . "
In 1911, Bishop Andrei was transferred to another department, and the Synodal Decision was made on the existence of the governor of the Kazan Spassky Monastery , Archimandrite Barsanuphius (Lebedev), bishop of Mamadyshsky, the third vicar of the Kazan diocese. At the personal request of the named archimandrite, the appointment was canceled, and consecration did not take place.
Vicarism was revived in 1920, when it was not about missionary work, but about the preservation of the Church in the face of a militantly atheistic state. After mid-1934 it was not replaced.
