The championship began to be held again according to the standard scheme - the winners of Apertura and Klausura determine the champion of the country in the playoffs. In the event that one club wins both stages of the tournament, the playoffs are not held. This is exactly what Danubio did, although in order to win in Klausur this team needed to hold a “golden match” against Peñarol. Only in the penalty shootout did Danubio defeat his rival and thereby save himself from having to play an additional match against the same Peñarol, which could have become Clausura’s winner.

“Rentistas”, “Serrito” and “Rocha” flew out from the Examples - the last club in the rank of vice-champion of Uruguay last season lost their place in the “Progreso” elite in the two-leg standoff, as they scored the same number of points for this season for this club. Instead of these teams, Cerro , Phoenix and Juventud Las Piedras came to Example.

Uruguay Champion 2006/07 Danubio, Champion and Vice-Champion of Ligilla 2007 Nacional and Montevideo Wanderers qualified for the 2008 Libertadores Cup . The third and fourth teams of Ligilla 2007 “Danubio” and “Defensor Sporting” got into the 2007 South American Cup .
