Botanical DescriptionBulbous plant. The bulb is smooth, up to 10 cm long, covered with a waxy green coating. The bulb forms daughter bulbs, which separate from the mother bulb and give rise to new plants. The leaves are long, up to 1 m long, juicy, covered with stripes. Inflorescence is a brush 70β90 cm long, contains many (50-100) fragrant white flowers with a greenish center. Flowering from May to August [2] .
DistributionIt originates from South Africa , but at present the species can also be found in the Mediterranean , Central and Eastern Europe , and Western Asia [3] .
Economic Significance and ApplicationOften grown as an ornamental plant. The plant is very adaptable, and therefore ideal for growing in containers. Prefers direct sun. The substrate must be well drained. Withstand temperatures up to -5 Β° C.
In medicine, crushed plant leaves are used to treat cuts and bruises. According to some sources, the medical effect of this plant is similar to that of aloe vera [2] .
