The village is located on the right bank of the Krutets stream, at a distance of about 0.5 km from its confluence with the Volga . The Volga Upland, on which the village is located, is cut by the Krutets stream, flowing in a deep ravine with steep slopes 12 m high. To the north-west of the village, the Volga coast is cut by another similar deep ravine, beyond which is the village of Penkovo , standing at the mouth of the Zhidogost River. Thus, the village is located on a hill on three sides surrounded by steep slopes. Only in the northeast of the village, where there are no ravines, does the country road go to the Shashkovo - Tutaev highway in the village of Moshkovo . Another road leads a little to the west through Bokovo to Neskuchnoe [2] .

At the mouth of the creek, 500 m south of Bawlenka, there are archaeological sites : the site of the VI millennium BC [3] .

The village of Bavlenskoye is indicated on the plan of the General Land Survey of Romanovsky Uyezd in 1790. After the unification of counties in 1822, the village belonged to the Romanovo-Borisoglebsky district [4] .

As of January 1, 2007, there were 3 permanent residents in the village [5] . The Shashkovo post office serves 6 houses in the village of Bavlenka [6] .
