History
Paysandu football club was formed as a result of the merger of the clubs Barrio Obrero , Centenario, Deportivo América , Estudiantil , Independiente , Juventud Unida, Olimpico and Paysandú Wanderers .
Immediately after the formation, the club got the right to play in the Second Division of the Uruguayan Championship. In 2004, the team took 10th place in the tournament, being the second team of the Interior (locations outside Montevideo ). Thanks to the anti-sports policy of the Football Association of Uruguay , which in the 2000s provided significant privileges to the clubs of the Interior, 2 clubs from Montevideo and the best club of the Interior, no matter where they took up, should have entered the elite. It was originally “ Paysandu Bella Vista ”, which took eighth place in the overall table of the Second Division, but after this club could not contribute 100 thousand dollars to participate in the Example, fellow countrymen from FC “Paysandu” took its place. This team took tenth place in the Second Division.
In the short single-round championship of Uruguay 2005 FC Paysandu took 14th place out of 18 teams. Then the championship started according to the “European scheme” of the 2005/06 season, but the exchange between the divisions took place in 2005, that is, taking into account the points of the 2005 tournament and Aperture 2005 (the first half of the 2005/06 season). In this annual relegation table, FC Paysandu was in last place, and ended the season already in Klausur 2006 of the Second Division. The last tournament in the history of the team was the Aperture 2006/07 of the Second Division. In the last match, held on December 9, 2006, Paysandu FC beat Basanjes 3-1, after which the team was disbanded.
