Tournament Description
The Uruguayan Football Association has decided to transfer the championship calendar to the “European” style, when the first part (Aperture) is played in the second half of the year and the second part (Clausura) in the first half of the next calendar year. The tournament was held from March 5 to July 12, 2005, after which a new season 2005/06 began. Clubs held a one-round tournament. Although this championship is full-fledged, the results were counted in the relegation table for 2005, that is, after the first part of the 2005/06 season, three teams left the Examples, instead of which two came.
In the final match of the Nacional (through the efforts of Sebastian Abreu ), he scored a goal penalty in the 97th minute. This allowed Nacional to again catch up with the purple ones by the number of points. According to the regulations, a “golden match” was supposed, but Defensor Sporting refused to play in protest against the unfair, in their opinion, refereeing, and Nacional was declared the champion of Uruguay in 2005.
Nacional as a champion received a ticket to the 2006 Libertadores Cup .
