Description

Medium-sized chalcidoid riders (from 1.5 to 8 mm, usually 3-4 mm) with dense, uniformly pitted punctures similar to the thimble surface. The imago is usually black. Hind margin of cheeks with keel. The antennae of the females consist of a 5-membered flagellum and a 2-segmented mace. Most species are parasites of phytophage insects, part of the species are herbivorous: bean , rosaceae and cruciferous seed eaters and gall formers of cereals [2] [3] [5] . The list of host insects includes representatives of the orders Coleoptera , Diptera , Hemiptera , Hymenoptera , Lepidoptera , Orthoptera [6] .

Systematics

The largest genus of the family. More than 500 species, taking into account the synonymization of several generic taxa. The genus was isolated in 1807 by the German entomologist Johann Karl Wilhelm Illiger [2] [3] .
