Content
Geography
Komsomolsk SMO is located in the central part of the Chernozemelsk district and borders:
- in the north - with the Yashkul district ;
- in the west - with Adykovsky SMO ;
- in the south-west - with the Prikumsky SMO ;
- in the south - with Kumsky SMO and
- in the east - from the Naryn-Khuduksky SMO Chernozemelsky district.
Climate
The climate of the Komsomolsk SMO is sharply continental. Summer is hot and dry; winters are not snowy and short. The warmest month is July (average monthly air temperature is + 25.5 ° C). The absolute maximum in some years reaches +41 C. The coldest month is January with an average monthly temperature of −5.1˚С. The absolute minimum drops to −33 ° C. The average annual air temperature is positive and is + 9.9˚С. The duration of the frost-free period is 175–200 days [2] .
The amount of precipitation in the territory of the SMO is negligible throughout the year. There are no significant fluctuations in precipitation from month to month, however, there is a slight increase in precipitation in January-February and May-June, with the sum of summer precipitation slightly exceeding winter and making up 50-60% of the annual norm. The amount of precipitation during the warm period is 153–178 mm (from April to October), and evaporation over the same period is 806–1031 mm, that is, 2-3 times higher than the precipitation [2] .
In winter, precipitation falls in the form of snow and is characterized by long duration, but low intensity. Snow cover appears in the first decade of December with an average height of 3-8 cm. Snow cover, as a rule, is not stable. Frequently repeated thaws sometimes lead to its thawing in most of the territory of the Komsomolsky SMO. In winter, there are up to 50 days with thaws [2] .
Hydrography
The hydrographic network is underdeveloped. The territory of Komsomolsk SMO is poorly provided with water resources suitable for consumer and economic purposes. The degree of mineralization is dominated by brackish waters with mineralization of 4.0–9.0 g / l [2] .
Mineral Resources
On the territory of the Komsomolsk SMO oil deposits are located: Nadezhdinskoe (32.91 hectares), Road (5.4 hectares) [2] .

As of January 1, 2012, the population of the SMO was 5099 people. The demographic situation is generally stable; in recent decades, there has been a natural and migratory increase in population. In 2012, the proportion of the population of the municipality in question in the total population of the Chernozemelsky region was about 39% [2] .
Most of the population lives in the village of Komsomolsky . Lakeside has no population.
National composition
As of the beginning of 2012, representatives of 26 different nationalities live in the Komsomolsk SMO. The bulk of the population are Kalmyks (82%), Russians (8%), Dargins (3%), Chechens (3%), Kazakhs (2%) [2] .

Economy
Agriculture is specialized in wool and meat sheep breeding and meat breeding . On the territory of the Komsomolsk SMO there is an agricultural production cooperative . Yu. A. Gagarin and a number of peasant farms .
Industrial production in the territory of Komsomolsk SMO has the features of monospecialization, and is represented primarily by oil industry enterprises engaged in the extraction and transportation of oil and associated petroleum products [2] .
In the village of Komsomolsk located most of the trade and public catering enterprises of the Black Earth region.
