Federico Silva ( Spanish: Federico Silva ; born September 16, 1923 , Mexico City ) - Mexican sculptor and muralist . Member of the Mexican Academy of Arts (1991).
Having independently mastered the encaustic technique , frescoes and letters with tempera , he assisted David Siqueiros when creating wall paintings in the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. Since 1950, Silva has been working on her own frescoes . In the process of creativity, the artist is looking for new ways of self-expression and by the beginning of the 60s he is interested in sculpture and becomes the forerunner of kinetic art in Mexico [1] . In 1977, Silva initiated the creation of a sculptural space in the center of culture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico . Helen Escobedo, , and others also took part in this project.
His work received recognition: in 1995, Federico Silva was awarded the National Prize in Fine Arts [2] , in addition, he is an honorary doctor of the autonomous University of San Luis Potosi and the National Autonomous University of Mexico , and a member of the Mexican Academy of Arts.
In 2003, the Museum of Federico Silva opened in the city of San Luis Potosi .
