Črnomerec ( Croatian. Črnomerec ) is the historical district and the city quarter (administrative district) of the Croatian capital Zagreb .

The city quarter ( Horv. Gradska četvrt ) was formed according to the Charter of the city of Zagreb of December 14, 1999 , previously it was the municipality of the same name.

The area includes part of Zagreb from Ilitsa (starting from the street of the Republic of Austria) to the city outskirts on the slopes of Medvednica .

According to 2001 data , the quarter area was 24.33 km ², the population was 38 762 people.

History and Modernity

"Chrnomerets" is the name of a stream and a former village on the western side of the city community. Mentioned for the first time in the Middle Ages; So, according to the data of 1631, there were 13 residential buildings in Črnomerc.

Now Znogreb military, church, medical and educational institutions, a court, a tram and bus terminal (founded in 1910 ), the Pliva plant, several large shopping centers are concentrated in Chrnomerts.

Among the historical monuments of рrnomerc: the medieval fortress of Medvedgrad on a hill above Luksic and the Rudolf barracks of the 19th century.

Among public transport in the city quarter are trams No. 2, 6, 11, which connect the city center and the tram and bus terminal, as well as No. 1, which connects the city center and the western railway station. Also in the quarter runs several bus routes.
