Mraovich, Simo

Simo Mraović ( Croatian Simo Mraović , Serb. Simo Mraovi March 30, 1966 Kutina, SFRY, now Croatia - December 16, 2008, Zagreb, Croatia) is a Croatian (by origin Serb ) writer and poet of the younger generation of Croatian literature, journalist and public figure.

Biography

Born in 1966 in the city of Kutina (now Croatia ). He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zagreb with a degree in Philosophy, Russian Language and Literature, Croatian Language and Literature.

He worked as a journalist in various newspapers and on television. He is the author of poetry collections “The Poison Season” (1986), “The Romans Have Enough Mercy” (1990), “Shadow on the Earth” (1994), “Between the Lips” (1997), “Good Night, Garbo” (2001), “Gmund” (2004). He has published a number of short stories, essays, and critical articles. His works are included in various anthologies of Croatian literature, translated into many European languages.

The famous Croatian literary critic Vlaho Bogisic describes the style of Mraovic as follows:

 His [Simo Mraovich] literary world is subject to nuances and quiet stringing of words, but is rich in internal chords. [one] 

The writer is the author of the rather sensational Croatian novel "Constantine the God-fearing" of 2002.

He lived in Zagreb as a free artist. He was a member of the Swedish PEN Club .

He died in 2008 in Zagreb .
