Archive fund - part of the documentary fund transferred for permanent storage in the archive . ( Documentary fund - documents postponed as a result of the activities of an institution or person). An institution (legal entity) or a person (individual), as a result of whose activity documents were deposited, is called a fund-maker.
It is important that incoming documents do not refer to the fund of their author, but to the fund of the recipient. For example, Vyazemsky’s letter to Pushkin does not refer to the Vyazemsky Foundation, but to the Pushkin Foundation. This applies to copies of documents sent and received (usually originals), and their copies (vacations, drafts) left by the author belong to the author's fund. In telegrams and faxes, on the contrary, the signed copy left by the author belongs to the author’s fund, and the copy received by the addressee refers to the recipient’s fund.
The fund-based organization of storage in the historical archives of Russia has spontaneously operated since its inception in the 18th century , although attempts were made to reorganize logically (St. Petersburg State Archive of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, archive of the Military Topographic Depot). The principle of origin (the principle of the non-fragmentation of funds, in the German and Dutch archival studies the provenance principle, the registry principle) became mandatory in the archives of the USSR in the 1930s, although its violations were allowed: when documents were lost, they were transferred from other funds, the funds were divided into pre-revolutionary and the Soviet part, personal collections were formed ( V.I. Lenin , I.V. Stalin , A.S. Pushkin , L.N. Tolstoy , etc.), and collections of paperless (scientific and technical) documents were stored. A joint archive fund is created by pooling funds for utilitarian reasons. Archival collections are stored as archival collections.
