Professional career

Vazquez made his debut in the professional lightweight boxing ring at the age of 18. The first fight he held in January 2006 , against a budding Mexican boxer, the future star, 15-year-old Saul Alvarez . The debut was unsuccessful, but competitive. Separate decision defeated Alvarez. The next five fights, Vazquez also held against undefeated novice boxers and defeated everyone on points. In March 2007, he won the Jalisco State Championship.

July 27, 2007 suffered a second defeat in his career. In the battle for the vacant youth WBC world title, he lost to the undefeated American, Timothy Bradley (20-0). In June 2008, he again met with Saul Alvarez . In a 10-round fight, Alvarez again won on points.

In July 2009, the Colombian Braidis Preiscott sensationally defeated by points, making him the main contender for the IBF title. In August 2010 , in a fight for the vacant IBF world title, Korean defeated Kim Ji Hoon and became world champion.

November 27, 2010 won on points Mexican Ricardo Dominguez (32-6-2). Then Vasquez defeated the undefeated Australian boxer Leonard Zammevindzh (25-0).

In May 2011, in an intermediate 10-round fight, Miguel knocked out Marlon Aguilar.

Then, in January 2012, the Mexican defeated Panamanian Ammet Diaz (30-10) and defended his champion title for the third time. In June 2012, Vazquez held an intermediate match and defeated Nigerian Daniel Atta.

In the fourth title defense he defeated compatriot Marvin Quintero on points [1] [2] . December 8, 2012 defended the title in a fight with Filipino Mersito Gesta.

February 22, 2014 in Macau he won on the points of the Russian boxer Denis Shafikov who did not have defeats. Shafikov acted more actively, but Vazquez outplayed the challenger at a distance, and in the melee he constantly entered the clinch, did not give the opponent attacks, and this ultimately led to the victory by a unanimous referee’s decision [3] .
