The island of Krasnoflotsky is bordered by a shallow with depths less than 5 meters, a width of up to 9 cable. The raid is intended for vessels up to 160 m long and with a draft of up to 8 m, awaiting passage under the Arkhangelsk bridges [1] .

History

Previously, the Red Navy Island was called the Surkov Cat [2] . This name was received by Cat Island in honor of the owner of Sawmill No. 3 Albert Surkov, who organized a rafting site on the island. After the establishment of Soviet power, charcoal was harvested on the island. In 1929 a school was built [3] .

Administratively, the village of the island belongs to the Maya Gorka district. On the island there are: Primary School — Kindergarten No. 29, a stable with a riding school, Vichenka summer cooperative, mechanical repair enterprises. In summer, the beach on Koshka (as all sandy islands are called in the north) is filled with vacationers from the mainland of Arkhangelsk.

In 1990, the Krasnoflotsky bridge (the “new bridge”) across the Northern Dvina was opened in Arkhangelsk, which made it possible to cancel the ferry crossing to the island [4] .

Since 2012, the island festival Krasnoflotsky held the rock festival Ostrov , the largest in the Northwest Region [5] , and since 2014, the rock festival Bridge was held on the island [6] .
