Tala ( Spanish Tala ) is a city in the south of Uruguay , in the Canelones department.

Geography
The city is located in the northern part of the department, on the right bank of the Tala River (after which the city got its name), at an altitude of 59 meters above sea level [1] . Tala is located approximately 50 kilometers northeast of the city of Canelones , the administrative center of the department, and 60 kilometers north-northeast (NNE) of Montevideo , the country's capital. The nearest civil airport is located in the city of Montevideo [1] .
History
Tala was founded on May 2, 1860 [2] . Received the status of a small town ( Villa ) May 15, 1925 [2] . Received city status ( Ciudad ) April 28, 1960 [3] .
