Biography

Bertochchi in 1960 began to play for the fifth team of Montevideo Wanderers. In 1966 he moved to Peñarol, basically began to play relatively stably in 1968, however, the team had very high competition and Bertochchi moved to Quito LDU the following year [1] . In the first season, he became the top scorer in the Ecuador Championship with 23 goals, and on October 27, 1969, he scored 8 goals in one match - against the club of America (Ambato) . LDU Quito also became the champion of Ecuador that season. In 1970, Bertochchi shared the title of top scorer of the Libertadores Cup with Argentinean Oscar Mas .

In 1971, Francisco returned to Uruguay, where he helped Liverpool to take third place in the championship, in which the blue-blacks could win the title.

After successful seasons at the club level in the late 1960s, in 1971, Bertochchi was called up to the Uruguayan national team. In Celeste over the next two years he played in 10 games, in which he scored 1 goal [2] .

In 1973, Bertochchi went to Mexico, where he first played for Monterrey, and then for Tampico Madero from the oil and gas region in the north-east of the country. In 1980, Bertochchi decided to end his professional career, but his former Peñarol partner, Alberto Spencer , who had worked as a Huracan Buseo coach at that time, persuaded Francisco to play on this team. In 1981, Bertochchi again played for Tampico, where he had finally completed his career at the age of 35.

At the end of his career, he worked as a coach and agent for players.
