Character Story

Al Simmons

Cogliostro first appeared as one of the homeless in the lane in which Spawn lived, but he knew much more about Spawn than Spawn himself. [1] Kog told Spawn that his powers were limited, and once they were over, he would be doomed to the eternal torment of Hell. He acted as an angel over Spawn's right shoulder, as opposed to the Defiler , convincing Spawn to revel in death and destruction for his own selfish purposes.

In the end, Cogliostro recounts that he is also Hellsdown, cursed by Melbolgia for a very long time and refusing to use his powers; he has only one “tick” necroplasma left and any use of the powers granted by Hell will put an end to his earthly existence. However, this small remnant of strength has given him life for centuries, and he does not want the last Spawn to fall into the darkness that created them. [2]

Cain

After the events of issue # 100 (the murder of Melbolgia, the death of Angela), Cogliostro returned to Spawn and said that he was dying and that he was terrified of what was happening in Hell since Spawn had killed Melbolgia and left the throne empty. In response, Spawn tells Cogliostro about his plan to make a new paradise on earth, Utopia . [3]

Spawn and Kog then went to the Tunisian desert for permission from the Green World to transform the Earth into an ideal world by Spawn's standards, but they are attacked by a third Redeemer , out of a sense of revenge. After the battle, Spawn was abducted by a pair of scorpions who dragged him to Hell, where demons were waiting for him. [four]

Still in Tunisia, Cogliostro met Mammon , who gave him the mysterious chest that Cogliostro recognizes. He then commits suicide to help Spawn in Hell. [five]

The Redeemer, having learned what he has done, goes to Hell to help Spawn fight the demons who arranged the battle for the throne of Hell. After an exhausting battle with the Defiler, Spawn calls on all the Helspowns of the past to help him in the battle for the throne. [6]

After the battle, Cogliostro gives Spawn a mysterious chest reminding him that he was about to make heaven on Earth. Spawn opens the chest and Hell becomes like Eden, in which he finds his wife, Wanda and runs to her, dropping the crown of Hell, which was part of Kog’s plan. [7]

It turns out that the real name of Cogliostro is Cain , the very first killer, and from the very beginning of time he wanted to rule Hell, and not be his servant. Now it became clear that the only reason Kogliostro helped Spawn was the ability to use him to seize the throne, to become the new ruler of Hell. [7]

After his betrayal and occupation of the throne, Cogliostro still decides to give Spawn “what he always wanted” and sent him back to Earth in the body of Al Simmons without a symbiotic costume attached to him. [7] Since then, Cain never appeared and was only briefly mentioned a couple of times, for example, his plans to build a tower that stretched from Hell to Heaven were told.

Recent Actions

The Redeemer told Knicks that rumors were circulating between the demons that Kogliostro had locked himself in the Black Tower and gained control of the 8th Sphere and the great demons. It was later told that he was constantly working on building new and new levels of the tower so that it could reach Heaven. Once he reaches his goal, the forces of Hell will be able to fight directly at the gates of Heaven. [eight]

Abilities

Being the very first Hellsdown on Earth, Cogliostro possessed all the power and magic bestowed upon him by a symbiotic costume and Hell. However, the days of his strength are long gone and his counter of necroplasmic energy stands at one. In other words, no matter what magical action based on the power of Hell he would perform, he would instantly go to Hell. However, the strength remaining in it is enough for immortality and a force that exceeds the strength of an ordinary person.

The main force of Cogliostro is the innumerable experience of millennia of life. He fought with angels and demons, was engaged in all kinds of magic and recorded all his experiences. He has a secret library in which he stores a lot of knowledge, a chronicle of the life of many, if not all, Hellspowns. [2] [9]

In addition, Kogliostro has a huge circle of acquaintances among all circles, both Ada and Paradise. This circle allows him to influence and observe all the events of the world that concern Spawn. [ten]
