Stepan Karapetovich Alaverdyan (Alaverdov, 1888 - August 14 , 1920 ) - a participant in the struggle for Soviet power in the Caucasus . One of the leaders of the Communist Party of Armenia .

Biography
Born in Kutaisi in the family of an employee. In 1915 he graduated from the Economics Department of the Moscow Commercial Institute .
Member of the RSDLP (b) since 1904. He led party work in Moscow , Tiflis , Kutaisi, Erivani . In 1917, he led the Bolshevik faction of the Sarykamysh Council. In July 1918 he was arrested by the Georgian Menshevik government and expelled from Georgia. In September 1919 he was elected to the leading center of the communist organizations of Armenia - Armenkom .
One of the leaders of the armed uprising in May 1920 against the Dashnaks . After the uprising was suppressed (1920), he was arrested and executed on August 14 by the Dashnaks. He was buried in the English (Theater) park in Yerevan [2] .
In Soviet times, the name of Alaverdyan was carried by a street in Yerevan (now - Hanrapetutyan street ).
