Biography
At the front since 1941. Member of the Communist Party of Slovenia. One of the founders of the partisan underground in Slovenia (Kochevsko). Since December 1941, he commanded a company of the Chankar brigade, later commanded a battalion and served as deputy brigade commander. In March 1944 he was transferred to the Zidanshkov brigade, where he soon became a commander. In October 1944, he took up the post of chief of staff of the Schlander brigade. In March 1945, he headed the Styrian group of detachments, in May he led the Brachichev Brigade in Austrian Carinthia. After the war he graduated from the Higher Military Academy of the JNA, later worked there as a professor. He held the post of assistant commander of the 9th Army, after which he went into retirement. He served in the Council of the Slovak Republic of Slovenia. He was awarded a number of orders and medals: Orders of the National Hero, Brotherhood and Unity, Yugoslav People’s Army, “For Courage”, “Partisan Star”, “For Merit to the People”, as well as the Partisan Cross of Poland and the Partisan Memory Medal.
