Biography
David Kvachadze was born in the city of Tbilisi in 1951. He began to practice boxing in 1963 with coach Guram Bumbiashvili in the Georgian council of Dinamo.
In 1971 he moved to the Petrel sports society. His brother Kvachadze Roland took an active part in preparing him for the championships, and in the future - the senior coach of the Georgian national boxing team. David Kvachadze - a boxer with good protection, thanks to which he received the pseudonym “impenetrable”. In combat, he used speed and maneuver well.
Three-time champion of the USSR 1976, 1977, 1980 light heavyweight. European Champion 1977. Honored Master of Sports of the USSR in boxing since 1981. He spent 180 battles, in which he scored 165 victories. He was awarded the title of Outstanding Boxer of the USSR and Georgia . He ended his sports career in 1981 with a victory over American boxer Lonnie Epsom.
Later in the nineties of the 20th century, he headed the Federation of Amateur Boxing of Georgia and was engaged in coaching, several of his students became champions of the USSR, Europe, and the World. His two female students became masters of French boxing savat . He worked as a photographer.
At present, from December 8, 2012, Kvadadze David Ivanovich was again elected President of the Georgian Amateur Boxing Federation and, since this period, has begun to revive Georgian boxing.
