Livonia is a city located in the northwestern part of Wayne County, Michigan . The architecture of the city is mainly represented by buildings of the 1950s and 1960s. According to the 2011 census, 95,958 people live in Livonia, making the city 9th among the municipalities in Michigan.

Content

History

The city was founded by pioneers from New England and New York on March 17, 1835. The new settlement got its name in honor of the cities of the same name in the states of New York and Pennsylvania.

According to the results of voting on May 23, 1950, Livonia received the status of a city municipality. At one time, the city was visited by 6 American presidents: Richard Nixon , Gerald Ford , Ronald Reagan , George W. Bush , Bill Clinton and George W. Bush [1] .

Demographics

According to the 2000 census, 96,942 people live in Livonia, there are 38,714 households and 26,856 families residing in the city. The population density is 1086 people / km ². The city has 38.658 housing units with an average density of 417.9 people / km². The racial makeup consists of 91.97% White , 3.41% African American , 0.24% Native American , 2.54% Asian, and 1.42% two or more races. Latinos of any race - 2.47%.

There are 38,089 households in the city, in which 32.5% of families have children under the age of 18 years living with them, there are 62.8% of married couples living together, 8.0% of women live without husbands, and 26.3% do not have a family. 22.9% of all households are individuals and 11.1% are single people aged 65 years and older. The average household size is 2.59, the average family size is 3.07.

23.8% of the population under the age of 18 years, 6.3% from 18 to 24 years old, 28.7% from 25 to 44 years old, 24.3% from 45 to 64 years old and 16.9% from 65 years of age and over live in the city. The average age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 94 males, and for every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.8 males.

Median household income is $ 65,391; median household income is $ 77,119. Men have an average income of $ 62,071 versus $ 42,083 for women. The per capita income for the city is $ 29,536. 5.4% of families or 7.8% of the population live below the poverty line , including 15.6% of those under the age of 18 and 3.8% of those aged 65 and over.
