Sports Biography
Ondrej began to engage in rowing in 1995. In 2000, Synek became the bronze medalist of the junior world championship in the doubles. At the adult level, the first major success in the career of a young Czech rower was bronze at the World Championships in Milan .
In 2004, Synek took part in the Athens Summer Olympics . In the competition for doubles, Ondrej together with Milan Dolechek made it to the finals, but took only fifth place there. After the end of the games, Ondrej began to participate in singles competitions. The next three world championships, Synek invariably fell into the top three winners. In 2005 and 2006, the Czech rower won the bronze of world championships, and in 2007 won the silver medal.
In 2008, Ondrej took part in the Summer Olympic Games for the second time. In singles competitions, Synek confidently overcame the preliminary rounds, winning all the races, and reached the final. In the decisive swim, Ondrej lost only 0.8 seconds to the current Olympic champion, the Norwegian Olaf Tufte, and won the silver medal of the games. In 2010, Syneck became the world champion for the first time in his career, having won in the singles competition.
In 2012, Synek once again performed at the Summer Olympics . In single events, the Czech rower, like four years ago, became the silver medalist of the games. New Zealand rower Mahe Driesdale took first place, and Briton Alan Campbell came third to finish, and this result repeated the final distribution of seats at the 2011 World Championships .
In 2014, Ondrej took part in the World Cup and won it.
