Biography
He graduated from the mining school, served in the office of a merchant who traded with Mongolia . After 1917, Mr .. became a member of the Mongolian trade union, supervised the work on moving cattle from Mongolia to Russia. Finally returned to Biysk in March 1919.
Participating in the Red Underground
In Biysk, he fell under the influence of a revolutionary uncle , carried out instructions from the leaders of the group: conducted revolutionary agitation among young people and those mobilized into the Kolchak army , wrote and distributed leaflets.
The members of the group were preparing an armed uprising, which was supposed to be carried out initially on May 1, then postponed to May 20. [2]
The group was discovered by a secret agent and arrested on May 18, 1919. Kazantsev M.K., as well as P.M. Merlin , N.M. Kazantsev, Mitrofanov M.M. and V.S. Shadrin were sentenced to death by a military court. Already at the place of execution, hanging was replaced by execution (June 26, 1919). [2]
Memory
On December 27, 1919, the white-shot members of the Merlin group were reburied with revolutionary honors in a mass grave in the city cemetery. There is a monument on the grave.
