Kurtna ( est. Kurtna ) is a lakes-rich region in Estonia in the Illuka parish. The landscape is formed during the ice age.

On the territory of about 30 km² there are 42 lakes with an area of 0.2 to 136 hectares. The shores of the lakes are popular as a place of rest and swimming both among local residents and among travelers. The easiest way to find the signs of the lakes Liivjärv and Martiksk.
In the lake region there is a tourist route, passing through which you can see 11 lakes. The trail begins and ends at Lake Martiska in a parking lot near the bonfire site. The marked trail passes through the Kurtna landscape reserve and introduces various plant communities, landscape forms and types of lakes. The total length of the hiking trail is 10 km. On the trail near the lakes prepared sites for bonfires and recreation, if desired, you can swim.
Kurtna Lake Complex is a popular recreation area. Lakes Nõmme, Liivjärv and Rääkjärv are best suited for swimming. Near Lake Konsu there is a place for tents, and on the shore of the lake itself it is planned to set up comfortable places for recreation. Near Lake Pannjärv, marked forest paths for cycling, jogging and Nordic walking begin, and in winter, trails are laid along the trails.
In the 1930s and during World War II, a military training camp was located on the site of the modern youth camp in Kurtna, and the officers' house was located on the shore of Lake Nõmmyärv. In many places, the remains of old trenches and traces of craters from shells are visible.
Fish: Pike , Perch , Bream , Roach , Redfin , Crucian carp , Tench , Guster , crayfish . Forests are rich in berries and mushrooms.
