Deep Purple: The Songs That Built Rock Tour is a world concert tour of the hard rock band Deep Purple , which started on June 3, 2011 and ended on December 10, 2012 . For the first time in four, the band visited North America with concerts (33 performances). Deep Purple also toured Europe (51 concerts) and South America (16 shows).

Performances took place at the largest world arenas: O2 Arena in London , Verona Arena and others. The band’s official press release announced that the tour will feature famous dark purple compositions, including “ Highway Star ”, “Woman From Tokyo” and the legendary hit “ Smoke on the Water ”, as well as many others The 42-year period of the group [1] [2] .

Tour History
Tour Announcements
- The first few dates of visits to European arenas were announced in January 2011 . Among them were a number of venues in Germany , the Arena di Verona . In early 2011, an "orchestra tour" was planned.
- In February 2011, a world tour called “ Deep Purple: The Songs That Built Rock ” was officially announced. The dates of concerts in North America were announced (a new tour was supposed to start from this continent). Initially, it was planned to hold three concerts in Canada and three concerts in New York (20 thousand tickets were expected in New York).
- In early April 2011, Jackie Pace, wife of Deep Purple drummer Ian Pace , announced the 2011 annual Sunflower Jam charity event hosted by renowned actor Jeremy Irons . According to the terms of this event, Deep Purple will have to perform in the Royal Albert Hall along with such famous musicians as John Lord , Rick Wakeman , Keith Emerson , Joe Bonamassa and members of the Thunder band [3] . The Sunflower Jam was criticized by the British Medical Journal for planning to transfer the proceeds to The College of Medicine , a public campaign related to the name of Prince Charles in alternative medicine [4] .
- On April 12, 2011, the band announced dates for concerts in the United Kingdom , the first of which was to take place in the English capital at the O2 Arena [5] .
- During the tour on July 16, 2012, the former musician of the group, the outstanding rock pianist John Lord , died.
Ticket Sales
- According to Ticketmaster Entertainment , on April 16, Deep Purple reached # 2 on the list of the most popular performers in the UK by number of tickets sold, in 2 days the group sold about 70 thousand tickets. On the fourth day of sales, the group moved to # 1 line and became the performer - the " best seller " of the week [6] .
- At the box office of the LG Arena in Birmingham, tickets for the Deep Purple concert were sold out a week after the opening of the sale.
Concerts
- The tour opened with a concert on June 3, 2011 at Casino Rama, a hall in the Canadian city of Orillia .
- The European part of the tour began with a concert in London Albert Hall (as part of The Sunflower Jam) on July 8, 2011 .
- Performances in South America began on October 4, 2011 with a concert at the Cidade Folia in Brazilian Belem .
- For the second time, the group returned to Europe on November 26, 2011 , having performed a concert at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Center in Glasgow, Scotland .
- The second visit to North America as part of the tour was called “Smoke on the Nation Tour” . During it, for two weeks (February 2 - 26, 2012 ), the group performed exclusively in Canada.
- For the third and last time during the tour, the group returned to Europe in October 2012 . This month 4 concerts were given in Russia : on October 24 - in the Uralets KRK ( Yekaterinburg ), on October 27 - in the Ice Palace ( St. Petersburg ), on October 28 - in the Olimpiysky Sports Complex ( Moscow ), on October 30 - in IC “Basket-Hall” ( Krasnodar ). The concert in Krasnodar became the only one for the city.
- The tour ended on December 10, 2012 at the Le Zénith Arena in Clermont-Ferrand , France .
