German ( Mold. Gherman ) - a village in the Ungheni district of Moldova . Along with the villages Skuleni , Blindesht and Floreni is a part of the Skuleni commune [5] .

History

According to the Bessarabian population census of 1817 , carried out after the accession of Bessarabia to the Russian Empire [6] , the patrimony of Herman was in the district of Turia (Turia) of the Iasi district, belonged to her holiness nun Glafira Skorcesco. Herman was adjoined to the estate of Dumesti, belonging to the Iasi monastery of Golia and the inhabitants of both estates shared the arable land, pastures and hayfields. In the village there was one pond, two water mills, two windmills, one beam with fishing, a little forest at the bottom of the Prut , one Tsaran garden.

The population was 272 people (132 men, 140 women) [7] . The village was part of the Iasi district of the Bessarabian province . There was one Orthodox church.

The data of the Volost and Most Important Villages of European Russia reference book for 1886 look doubtful because of the discrepancy between the information and previous sources. According to the directory, Herman (another name is Telenesti) is the village of Tsaran by the Prut River with 24 yards and 128 inhabitants. There was one Orthodox church. It belonged to the Skulian volost of the Iasi district [8] .

The village is located at an altitude of 52 meters above sea level [1] .
