In 1947-1951 he studied at the Kiev Pedagogical Institute. Gorky , graduated with honors. After graduation and until the 2000s, he taught history, geography and social studies in Kiev schools, while doing local history research. For pedagogical services, M. A. Rybakov was awarded the title "Excellence in Public Education".

In the 1990s, he served as a leading researcher at the Museum of the History of Kiev .

These books contain valuable information, many of which were not previously known, the historiography of publications mainly covers the period of the XIX - the first half of the XX century [1] [2] .
Science and Culture Activities
While working as a teacher in schools of the left-bank part of Kiev, M. A. Rybakov studied this area. Mikhail Alexandrovich led a group of local history students who studied the liberation of Darnitsa from German occupiers in 1943. Together with his students, he sought out more than 500 veterans of the 136th Kiev Rifle Division , the group collected various materials - photographs, maps, personal items. As a result, a museum was created in school No. 136, and the name of the division was given to the school itself. M. A. Rybakov also actively participated in the creation of history museums in the Darnitsky district and the Darnitsa railway station.
Later, the geography of Rybakov’s research began to cover not only the whole of Kiev, but also the environs, he studied the history of the emergence of suburban summer cottages, which later became settlements - Irpen , Boyarka , Butch , Vorzel , Klavdievo , Teterev ( Peskovka ), as well as the history of suburbs and villages, in the 20th century, those that entered the city limits were Solomenka , Cholokovka , Pushcha-Voditsa , Belichi , Borshchagovka , Karavaevshchina , Shuliavshchina , Vigurovshchina , Troeschina and others.
Many facts were established by M. A. Rybakov when studying the materials of the state archives, he also searched and studied the family archives of hereditary Kiev residents. The result of one of these investigations was the establishment of the eponym of the Kiev historical area of Baykova Gora - Major General S.V. Baikov .
In particular, the scientist worked on the history of theater and circus art in Kiev, some educational institutions, the activities of booksellers and publishers, and a number of pre-revolutionary industrial enterprises. M. A. Rybakov clarified a number of facts from the history of the Berezil Theater, the Kiev Youth Theater , the Solovtsov Theater, and the Theater named after I. Franco ; thanks to him, dozens of theaters operating in Kiev in the first decades of the 20th century became known. Rybakov was the first researcher to study in detail the appearance of operetta theaters in Kiev.
Many studies were impossible until the abolition of Soviet censorship and the provision of free access to the materials of the former special guards . Working with such materials, Rybakov found data on many previously unknown or little-known cultural figures, public organizations. Hundreds of previously unknown literary works were found in the same special security guards, of which about 120 were published by Rybakov — these are the works of S. A. Berdyaev (Rybakov discovered more than 500 works of this author alone), N. Ya. Agnivtsev , A. I. Deich , I. G. Ehrenburg , I. A. Bunin , A. I. Kuprin , T. L. Schepkina-Kupernik and others.
M. A. Rybakov collaborated with the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Monuments of History and Culture , and the Kiev Institute of Judaica. He tracked down and published documents relating to the Jewish organization Kultur-League , and examined in detail the history of Kiev Jewish theaters.
