Biography
Born in Barnaul, in the family of a tin worker. Received primary education.
Member of World War I. After demobilization, he returned to Barnaul, joined the Bolsheviks , was elected a member of the All-Russian Revolutionary Committee , in February 1918 - Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Barnaul Council.
On June 15, 1918, after the Bohemian attack on Barnaul, Karev left the city with other members of the red leadership of the city and province.
In the village of Lukovka ( Pankrushikhinsky district ) the Bolshevik leaders M.K. Tsaplin , I.V. Prisyagin , M.A. Fomin , M.K. Kazakov and Karev were captured, and after two months in prison were executed on September 26, 1918 According to other sources, Karev was executed later on November 18, along with the Bolsheviks Tyaptin , Lukyanenko, Belov and Vekhovskiy.

An alley in the Upland of Barnaul was named after him.
