Biography
V. B. Mazur is a native Irkutsk. In 1949 he joined the Ziminskaya Geological Survey Party of the Irkutsk Geological Administration as a worker. In 1950 he entered the geological department of the geological association of the Irkutsk State University with a degree in geology , from which he graduated in 1955.
In 1955, he joined Vostsibneftegeologia Trust, organized in 1939 to conduct prospecting and exploration for oil and gas in the Irkutsk and Chita regions and in the Buryat-Mongol ASSR . He worked in various batches of the Irkutsk geological prospecting expedition as a senior geologist and party chief, then in January 1962 he was appointed head of the expedition. In March 1962 the Irkutsk geological prospecting expedition discovered the Markov oil and gas condensate field , which in fact became the first weighty evidence of the presence of industrial hydrocarbon deposits in the Irkutsk region.
In 1966, V. B. Mazur was appointed chief geologist, and in 1967, head of the Ust-Kut oil exploration expedition. In 1968 he went to work at the East-Siberian Research Institute of Geology, Geophysics and Mineral Resources (VostsibNIIG and MS).
In 1970, V. B. Mazur went to work at the Pereyaslavskaya oil exploration expedition of the Yaroslavneftegazrazvedka trust. He carried out prospecting for oil and gas in the Kalinin and Yaroslavl regions. In December 1971, he was appointed Chief Geologist of the Central Integrated Oil Exploration Expedition, formed on the basis of the Pereyaslav Expedition. In 1973, he headed the Yaroslavneftegazrazvedka trust (a team of more than 3 thousand people).
Under the leadership of V. B. Mazur, the region of oil exploration of the trust has been significantly expanded. The work was carried out not only in the central part of Russia, but also in the northwestern part, particularly in the Kaliningrad region and in the Arctic part of the Far North . An important direction in the work of Vladimir Borisovich in this period was the drilling in the Spitsbergen archipelago . One of the most difficult and important objects of the trust was the Kola Superdeep Well SG 3, located in the town of Zapolyarny, Murmansk Region . V. B. Mazur was directly involved in the organization of work and the generalization of the results [1] .
On August 18, 1981, V. B. Mazur was appointed Deputy Minister of Geology of the RSFSR. He was entrusted with coordinating the work of oil and gas exploration enterprises that are part of the structure of the Mingheo RSFSR.
In 1988–1989, after the liquidation of the Ministry of Geology of the RSFSR, he continued to work in the USSR Ministry of Geography as Deputy Head of the General Directorate of Fuel and Energy Resources, headed by A.P. Gold.
In 1989-1991. V. B. Mazur headed the group of geological specialists in Bulgaria as an advisor to the chairman of the Bulgarian Geology Committee.
In 1991-1993 - First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Social and Economic Development of the North. He also headed the representative office of the Irkutsk Region and the Ust-Orda Buryat National District in Moscow.
In 1993-1996 - Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the Russian Federation on Geology and Subsoil Use (Roskomnedra).
In 1996-1999. - Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation for geology of oil and gas. He carried out active work on the development of oil and gas fields in various regions on the terms of production-sharing agreements .
In November 1999, V. B. Mazur resigned from the civil service due to the age limit of a civil servant.
from 1999 to 2012 he was the editor-in-chief of the magazine “Exploration and protection of mineral resources”
In 2002–2010 He was a member of the presidium and the chairman was the head of the All-Russian public organization "Veteran-Geological Surveyor"
From 2010 to 2012, he was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nedra SSPC
From 1996 to 2012 he was one of the organizers and a member of the regional public organization "Irkutsk fraternity" Baikal ".
Scientific Activities
In 1967, V. B. Mazur defended his thesis on the topic “Oil and gas potential of the Lower Cambrian rocks of the Eastern part of the Irkutsk Amphitheater” of VNIIGAZ , after which he was awarded the degree of Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences .
In 1995, V. B. Mazur defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic of ultra-deep drilling.
Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences , International Academy of Geo-Ecology, author of more than 90 scientific articles and 2 monographs, 6 books of memoirs "Life Routes".
