Parakalummidae (lat.) Is a family of ticks from the order Oribatida ( Galumnoidea ) [1] . 45 species. Meet all the world [2] . Microscopic size of pincers: from 0.5 to 0.7 mm. Coloring from dark brown to orange-red. They have 5 pairs of genital setae. Hysterosome rounded. On proterosome ridge-shaped lamellae are located. Nogaster with 10 pairs of small hairs [3] .

From 2 to 6 generic taxa (including subgenera) and about 45 species are distinguished [2] . According to other views, Parakalummidae is sometimes included in the superfamily Oripodoidea Jacot, 1925 [4] .
