Biography
Graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam ( 1986 ). Worked as a commercial photographer. The first solo exhibition was shown in 1984 in Amsterdam. In the 1990s, she began to implement individual projects, the first of which was the famous series Beach Portraits ( 1992 - 1996 ). Since the mid-1990s, he has been working on video projects ( The Buzzclub, Liverpool, UK / Mysteryworld, Zaandam, NL , 1996-1997, etc.). The artist's works were demonstrated at the Venice Biennale of 1997 and 2001 , at the Biennale of Art in São Paulo ( 1998 ), the Turin Photobiennale ( 1999 ), etc.
Creative manner
The works of Rineke Dijkstra are often compared with photographs of August Zander and Diana Arbus .

Recognition
Kodak Prize ( 1987 ) and other awards. The artist’s works have been repeatedly shown in the largest museums in the world and are stored in their collections ( Tate Britan , Rudolfinum , MOMA , Metropolitan Museum of Art , etc.). Dijkstra is an Honorary Doctor at the Royal School of Fine Arts in London ( 2011 ). In 2012, a retrospective exhibition of her works over twenty years was unfolded at the New York Museum of Solomon Guggenheim ( [1] ).
